Antiques Storage Facilities

At Secure Vaults, we offer private, high-security safety deposit boxes ideal for storing smaller, high-value antiques safely and discreetly.

Our vault is the perfect place for:

  • Antique coins, medals, and miniatures
  • Vintage watches and timepieces
  • Historic jewellery
  • Documents, letters, and old maps and notes
  • Collectable stamps or currencies
  • Compact artefacts and heirlooms

If it fits in one of our boxes, it’s safer with us than anywhere else.

Antiques are irreplaceable – and often vulnerable too. Regular at-home storage poses a number of potential issues including:

Antiques Storage FAQs

Check out some of the most common questions we get asked about antiques storage boxes and services.

If you have a question that isn’t answered, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us to ask.

Anything compact and high-value – like coins, vintage watches, medals, jewellery, historic letters, and collectables.

If your item can fit inside a box, it’s ideal for secure vault storage.

Absolutely – documents like old deeds, letters, birth certificates or historical records are perfect for our secure boxes.

They’re kept safe from theft, fire, flood, and accidental damage.

Prices start at £150 per year, including minimum £15,000 insurance cover.

Most collectors choose a medium-sized boxed at £299 per year, depending on the size of the collection.

If your antique item is too large (e.g. furniture, paintings, instruments etc), we’ll be honest and advise you that our boxes may not be suitable.

However, we can still help put you in touch with reputable large-item storage specialists if needed.

Yes. We operate a high-security vault facility with biometric access and controlled entry.

Only you, or somebody you authorise, can access your box.

The “100-year rule” is a commonly used guideline that defines an item as antique if it is at least 100 years old. This standard is often used by museums and collectors to distinguish antiques for vintage items (typically 20-99 years old).

However, the exact definition can vary depending on context.

Regardless of age, if an item is rare, high in quality, and has historical or artistic significance, it may still be worth protecting – and that’s where our secure storage comes in.

  • Damage or deterioration – physical wear, moisture, or fire can significantly reduce value
  • Changing trends or tastes – some styles, even historical ones, can fall out of favour and impact demand
  • Market saturation – if too many similar items appear on the market, value tends to dip
  • Lack of provenance – without history or paperwork, some items may be harder to value

Proper secure storage can prevent many of these issues, particularly theft, damage, and environmental decline, helping to maining long-term value.

It can be. Many antiques have held or increased in value over time; especially rare, well-preserved items.

However, the antiques market can be a bit unpredictable and returns aren’t always guaranteed.

That said, antiques often offer:

  • Diversification from traditional investments
  • Personal enjoyment from owning and displaying beautiful or historic items
  • Heritage value to pass down through generations

If you’re building a collection or protecting inherited pieces, secure storage helps preserve your investment, ensuring it stays safe, insured and in good condition over time.
